Default whers my sensor? 96 2.6

Anyone know where the sensor is for the temp sensor for the ecu, i have 2 new onesw one is screw in which goes on a metal pipe at the back of the engine the other which appears to be held in with a c shape clip i cant find anywhere. ive replaces the screw in one with no effect to it over fuelling and my friendly Audi man says you want the other one pal but i cant remember where it is! rather helpful. Its going in thursday its let me down 3 times now in the last week idles all over the place cuts out and refuses to start its drastically over fuelling. As it stinks when it does decide its gonna play ball. If these sensors dont sort it ..............God knows!
