hello everyone ,

i am new to audi's and new to this forum, i am looking at buying an 1994 Audi 80 with 180,000 for around AUS$6000. please can you all help? my questions are,
is this price ok? (car is suppost to have full service history with books, leather seats, cruise etc and body looks to be in excelent condition)
Longevity of Audi motors?
known problems with this model?
what maintence will be comming up?
what size motor do they have? (the add says 3 liter V6, would this be correct)
fuel milage/KMS?
what to look for before buying?
reliability of Audi's?
would this car have climate control?
any other help and knowledge about this model would be greatly appreciated.

Gday Richard, I'm also a newcomer to this forum but have owned a couple of Audis ....currently a 1994 Audi 100 with the 2.6Ltr V6 (probably the same donk as the 80 you're considering). I'm in west Syd. Audi motors are known for their strength and longevity....180,000km...just run-in ! it's all the peripherals that are usually the weak-points ( sensors and wiring, rubber seals, electronics)....hard to predict these things from km and general condition,or even service record. Just have to take the plunge !! The price is about right for Sydney market. Check the AC...any compressor noise or lack of coolant? Any leaking around fuel-injectors ? any ABS brake vibrations/noises at low speed? CV-joint noises? .....these are issues I've experienced on mine with odometer under 140,000km. Cruise control may have been an option. Climate control was also an option...even on my 100, which was the family/luxury saloon with leather etc...I have only standard AC and no cruise. Roadholding and steering are superb even standard....I've also got a 97 Lexus which can't hold a candle to the older Audi in the handling/steering/feel stakes ( but wins out in power and reliability....what can you say, it's a bloody Toyota!!! boring!!! ). Anyway, take the plunge....but don't expect the trouble-free run of the bland Toyotas. Good luck and welcome to the forum too ! Regards....Steve.[8D]
