Check your fuse. Do you know thatyour lowbeams must be on for the foglights to work? That is the way it comes from the factory.

There are a couple of methods you can use to get those to work independently of the lowbeams, but neither is ideal. Here are the two taht i am familiar with:
1)Use right-angle fuse taps and jump to another fuse location. However, the only "vacant" fuse location that works is for the rear wiper, and doing this mod in the Avant will result in a loss of functionality for the rear wiper. Here is the link: http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/375675.phtml
2)A wire in the headlight switch harness iscut and spliced to another wire. However, this mod enables the foglights to be on ALL the time the knob is turned to the parking light position, and the foglights will ALWAYS be on even with the lowbeams. Here is the link: http://www.htms.org/fogmod.html

I tried checking the fuse but I dont know where it is or what color it is. I know where the fuse box is on the driver side but which one is the fuse?

There should be a guide to which fuse does what in your manual. Also, check the door to the fuse box -- there's usually a sticker there that also has a key to what/where.

Since having the headlight switch recall done, now I can turn my fogs on with only the parking lights on (no lowbeams).
