Woe is me
I haven't posted in a while because I've been so busy with work and school lately. Anyway, I wanted to share my tale of woe. Last night on my way home from class, I droveover some train tracks that the state DOT had been doing construction on. Well, the construction created craters behind this small mound so I didn't see it until it was too late. I had only been going 25 mph at the most because of the light after the tracks being red. Going over the train tracks damaged either the piping for my turbos or the turbos themselves. It sounds like air is being forced into the atmosphere. I'm not too sure. I drove home in limp mode which was probably a mistake, but I didn't give the car enough gas to go over 2k rpms. It stalled and died when I got to the house. I didn't try to restart it.
Fortunately, it looks like this is covered by insurance. I'm having it sent to the local VW dealer because I actually trust them as opposed to the Audi dealer. (The Audi dealer will charge $120/hr labor just to diagnose a problem which I think is a con at best.) The insurance provider is even setting me up with a rental car. All in all, I suppose the situation isn't all that bad.
Now, if only I could get the noise my car is making in 1st-2nd at takeoff diagnosed, things would be all good. It's like a clicking. One of the employees I work with said it sounds like U-joints. It only does it when it's cold outside and the car is cold. In fact, the few months passed that were unseasonably warm, my car was not making the noise. I do not have to give it a lot of gas for it to happen...normal takeoff is enough. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
BTW, it's a 2000 2.7T A6 with about 60k miles.
