Im a current e46 m3 owner, i love it, but while waiting(probely 10 months more) for the new m3 i was silly enough to test drive an RS4 and love it , especially in the dream colour of sprint blue, damn what a colour, so buy rs4 now r wait for m3, im asking for your views, fire away please. they r so expensive here in Australia @ 180k new, but i saw a second hand one with only 6000 klms on it and it was already 155k 25k down in 6000klms??????? thats scary, but that steering wheel , i dream of it , its a work of art....sigh

I would say get whatever floats your boat mate! I don't know much about the new M3 but I'm sure it will be a monster and likely more raw and ragged then an RS4 - but don't know really. RS4 with AWD is an all weather car if that is an issue...but I would suspect the charcter of the two cars to be much different but with performance and fun factor in a similar ballpark. Do you just got to have it now? Then get the RS4. If your current M3 is still giving you thrills (and not broke down by the side of the road) then maybe you can wait...and if you can wait then maybe doing so and doing some comparo drives 9if that will be possible) might be the way to go. Both are a lot of $$$ to drop (in either Aussie $$$ or American...) so you should really check them out and make the best decison for YOU...but I doubt you could go wrong with either....(helpful?)

I own Z4 M roadster with the same engine&tranny from E46 M3. I was lucky enough to test drive a brand new RS4 past weekend. I would say they are totally different cars. It is like two health strong kids; one goes to Catholic school and trained with the best manners in the world, the other goes to American public school and learns all the evil things. Audi RS4 has great manners, it is highly educated and more grown up type. It is sort of like luxury sport sedan (the more relaxed type for older ppl). all the Ms I have driven are "RAW", do not have manners but very fun to drive. it would slap you if you push it too hard with DSC off. But personally, I would prefer M3 over RS4 cuz I am young =) and I love to have fun so a "RAW" machine is best for me.

There is a very interesting comparo between current M3 and RS4 and some speculation about new/upcomming M3 in the new Roundel mag. All of the BMW (current M3) drivers were very impressed wit the RS4 and agreed that it kicked butt on the track and was more powerful - throughout rev band) then current M3 and that it handled great and was lots of fun. New M3 to have 420hp? and lighter then RS4 (by perhaps as much as 400-500lbs...maybe)...so will in all likelyhood be quite a bit quicker. Still AWD launch ability - perhaps higher torque? don't know - of RS4 etc - will keep it somewhat close. Again RS4 w/AWD is all weather performer. I know that in the rain/snow there is no question - in my S4 I rule! And when I drive my Bimmer in rain (never in snow) I have to be careful (as i actually slip and have to back off) - in the S4 I just gooooooo...!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, its hard, bimmer still 10-12 months away from australia, my current m3 only has 25,oooklms on it , but now ive sat in the rs4 i just love it cos its new but huge price$180,000 here in sydney, but audi sydney had a client who just traded an 06 RS4 sedan on an RS4 cab , it only has 6000klm on it and now they only wont 155,000 big drop for 5 months, now im wondering if its done its first big drop for a while, i could pick it up now then move it on if i wont bimmer? but not if i can only get 100k for it in 12 months? u guys thinks theres another drop in it?

Congrats!!! I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your decision!! For it's class, the RS4 is unmatched in my opinion. It's the perfect balance of performance and luxury.

It's one hell of a ride and you only notice the extra doors when you need them. Post some pics of the car and interior when you can..
I think the e92 m3 would be faster since its around 300lbs lighter than the rs4,the msrp for the e92 is only 54k, the rs4 is like 66k.I know that rs4 are nice,im just saying that a m3 is cheaper and a better buy and is 12k less than the rs4.http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/BMW/2008/M3/ e92 m3 specs and pics
Its all about what you want and where you drive. Yes the BMW will be a tad faster which sucks but have it rain and watch the RS4 rip past it like it was a Geo Metro in a mud puddle.
dont get all piss that bmw has surpassed audi. btw rs4 is way to overprice who needs awd if your living in a place that barely rains. and awd is less fuel efficient compared to rwd and fwd.i know your piss that a 66k car is being slaughtered by a new and more advance m3 and is 12k less than the rs4.What can you do with the 12k? when you add a supercharger for the e92 m3 it would be around 500hp,thats if it comes out. Hom much does a rs4 super charger cost? around 15-20k, that will cost you around 80k for an rs4,which you can also spend a couple k more for a m5. why would someone who baby his car a lot be driving it out when it rains?
Hi all, I've just read an article in one of the latest well known Car magazines, which they've done a full test on the new M3 V8 vs the RS4(B7), the results would probably be quite surprising to alot of people. They said that the RS4 is far more muscular looking & has a greater sense of visual attitude than the M3 V8, they also said that eventhough the M3's Interior is slightly more special than the regular 335i, they said that it looks abit drab, specially with the Carbon-look Leather on the dash. The Seats are reasonably supportive, but are very plain upto the hip-hugging Recaro seats in the RS4, the Steering wheel is very standard looking as well, where'as the RS4 has the great looking bespoke Aluminium flat bottomed wheel. Eventhough , on paper, they both have the same performance figures, in a head to head Race, the RS4 is a tiny bit faster in a straight line & feels abit punchier in the Low to Mid ranges, they also said that Audi's V8 engine sounds better than the M3's as well. Round the Track, the RS4's steering feels sharper & more precise than the M3's, but the ride is slightly softer & more comfortable in the M3, as the RS4 has quite hard suspension. On practicallity, the RS4 has 2 extra doors & a bigger boot than the M3(460 litres vs 400). I was also quite surprised that the new M3 V8 comes with 18" Alloys as standard, which look abit small, you have to pay extra for the 19"s, which are the standard size on the RS4. Price wise, both Cars are moreless, exactly the same. This Test showed that the RS4 was better in virtually every department, as its faster, roomier, better looking & more communicative than the M3 V8, I guess you have to draw your own conclusions!

i only have driven the M3, one came into my work and the owner said i could take it around the block. so i wanted to see wat the fuss is all about. i took it around the block and i thought it was pretty fun, fast, RWD, liked the engine sound, interior was eh. i think if i drove the RS4 i would like it better just from what ive read and the pictures. plus im more drawn to audis then BMWs. can not wait til i get to drive an RS4.
