I was wondering if anybody uses the SD Cards to play Mp3s in their RS4 or S4. i've tried a 2gb card and it appears that the RS4 will not read the entire contents ont he card. Has anybody tried a 2gb card or greater in the RS4 with success? if so, which brand are you using.

Also, it appears the RS4 doesn't have the IPOD package ? Did i just get screwed or is there an auxilary port somewhere besides the glove compartment?

Thanks in advance,

S.

There is a limit to the number of songs you can have in the root directory.

How to info on SD Cards

Not sure what you mean by "What do they go in originally?" There are two slots for them behind the display. prior to that you would need to copy mp3's onto them from your computer. The cards are pretty cheap(some even come with a reader if you need one). 2GB SD w/reader for $20 or get one with USB built in

USB to OEM Adaptor
We received completely new aftermarket USB to OEM radio interface Audi. The USB interface plugs directly into the back of you existing car stereo and allows you to connect any portable audio device e.g. USB disk, IPOD, Minidisk, CD player, MP3 player etc...  It has SD to USB adaptor convertor in the kit.

To change tracks using the seek buttons on the stereo or steering wheels controls. In addition it has Aux-in plug.

Let me know if you interested in additional information.

I am using a 1Gb card and it works great.  I dropped MP#'s and iTunes onto it and the stereo reads both of them without any problems.  The screen displays all of the song titles.  A 1 GB card will easily hold 200+ songs.  With 2 slots, I see no reason to ever have an iPod connection.  You don't need a fast SD card like a 133x- 150x.  The slow ones are so cheap, I can get them for $5.00 after rebate online.

I all, I know I am late to the post, but I figure I will share this with everyone.  I bought a 2GB flash and pluged it into the mm center, and it only saw 196MB.  I also could not read the card in a 2yr old dell laptop.

An email to Audi of America, they called me back and told me the unit is only guarantee to 1GB.  I returned the 2GB and got the 1GB, and it's rocking.

Your 2GB SD cards are working fine and at full capacity.  The display only shows 3 digits.  I use 4GB x150 cards, and the display shows something like 396 which is really just under 4gb formatted capacity.  I think there is a limit of songs though - something like 512 per directory.  So I use the 4GB SD cards which leaves room for burning super-high quality MP3s - typlically 256 or 192 kbps.

I just bought an 4GB SD card and put some songs on it and put it in and nothing.
The display tells me, that the card is being read -- even after 10minutes.
Did I forget to do something like e.g. formatting the card.

I think my problem is caused by that I got an SDHC card instead of an SD card.

I'm having a problem with my sd card or MMI as well.  For one, I'm not exactly sure how to switch my iTunes songs to mp3's.  I did the whole advanced/preference/encoder mp3 thing through iTunes, but still doesn't work.  It shows my songs as an ACC or AAC file or something like that, even after I switch the encoder to mp3 in iTunes.  I don't see why it's so hard to get fuQing songs on my SD card?????? Is it the card? is it my computer? is it mmi??? it's really starting to annoy me....as you can see.  If anyone has the exact recipe for my situation, I would really appreciate it.  I'm not a brain when it comes to computers, nor am I oblivious, please help:)

I don't know about itunes.
But I encoded all my CDs into MP3 using foobar2000 and lame. Install forbar2000 and this asks for the installation directory of lame.

I got an 4GB SD card and this fits nearly all of my CDs.
The player dives into sub-directories recursively and finds all the .mp3 files on this card.
Just make certain that you buy an SD card but not an SDHC card.
I use the mix mode so that I don't listen to every song of every album in the order they are on the CD.
Don't have much experience yet how well this works.
I've got a set of alumbs for some artists in subdirectories for artist and album
-- and I don't know how well the player does the mix.
