Default 2.7T Timing Belt Replacement?

I've seen a lot ofposts about replacing the timing belt and the water pump, tensioners, etc at anywhere from 75-90,000 miles. My maintenance book says 105,000. I understand the risks of failure with an interference engine. I have almost 90k on the vehicle now. Just wondering if I should do it real soon or wait until about 100k.

I'd like to survey my fellow owners and find out at what mileage you had the work done. Any of you go over the 105k? Anybody have a belt break below the 105k?

Do is soon. Most people do in the 80-90k range.

i almost have 97,000 I still havent replaced it due to the fact that I dont have enough money right now.

Im really scared, but i dunno, if the manual says 105,000, i guess its fine to change at 105,000 cuz the audi engineers arent stupid and know that the people that buy audis pay alot of money and will probably take good care of it, so they recomment 105,000, that probably means its fine to change around 105,000

My timing belt was replace by the previous owner around 84,000k. Since I will be doing the TB replacement myself, I plan on doing it again at 165k. If money is not an issue, I suggest you do it soon.

I just rolled over 90K and am praying it hangs in long enough for me to get my new warranty squared away, and a little extra cash for side expenses.

hey, i have a 2000 audi a6 2.7t. i just had the timing belt/water pump replaced. i took my car in for an oil leak. i thought it was coming from the turbos but it was a seal in the engine. the guys said they have seen timing belts on a6's break at around 72,000 miles on more than one. he told me they were going to have to take it off to fix the leak anyway. i had the timing belt, water pump and all rubber seals replaced in the engine for around 1500.00. its worth it for peace of mind and these guys at "german performance options" are awesome. they are the best in nashville. my car has 70,500 miles on it.

All of the belt manufacturers we have seen recommend that their belts be changed between 60 and 75k miles.

I would say it depends on the year and the milage.

A newer car I would replace the timing belt around 80-90k
