Default '01 2.7T Navigation system question

Good Afternoon, All:

Have a bit of a quandry with my '01 2.7T's navigation system (it's box-stock). I've had the car a couple of weeks now, and have been trying to use the navi system without much luck. I have the (painfully thin) factory instruction manual, but.....here's the problem:
On the first and second screen of the navigation (where it lists Start, Save, Settings, Delete, Delete memory, and GPS).....I can't access most of them! Every one except Settings and GPS has a star next to it on the left-hand side, and I can't seem to access it when I turn the selector knob. The manual doesn't even mention this condition!

So, what do the stars mean, and how can I clear them out so I can reset the system? I'd like to delete everything, as the previous owner's sisters house address doesn't do me much good!

Thanks!
-Red

Stupid question, have you tried calling or going to your dealer ship and asking them?
The dealer ship I go to is awsome, they have always helped me out free of charge.

possibly try disconnecting the battery temporarily to try and reset it? if you do that, make sure that you have the code for your radio handy, because you'll probably need it.
