Just had my brakes fixed, however after I had them fixed the worn brake pad light came on and will not go off? Any ideas on how to reset that?

Sometimes this happens if the sensor gets wet...

You can also check the anti-wear sensors, which are from the front inner pads. Just jack up one side, pull the wheel, look at the wire connection. Maybe not snapped in place properly.

2002 A6 4.2 Silver/Ebony, Tip, Premium, LOTS of mods!

First time buyer, and I just bought a 1995 A6 Quattro, 2.8 v6. The gentleman that sold it to me told me he just had the front brake pads installed, but (and I quote) "the new pads don't have the little sensor thing, so the dash light wont go out"...

After doing some reading, it doesn't sound like the sensor is on/in the brake pad itself, sounds like it's on the outside, on the caliper, and it measures the distance the brakes need to travel before the pads contact the rotors. Is this true? Or is it my worst fear (with this beautiful car) and I will need to get new brake pads? I haven't gotten the time to jack up the car yet, I'll do that sometime this week. I'd like to know what I'm looking for though when I take a wheel off. I'd appreciate any help I can get!

what happend is the guy didn't go with oem pads and just left the wires dangling that would have clipped into the sensor from the new pads. there is in a little clip near , but not on, the caliper. take the wheel off and locate the two wires, strip to copper and cap together and tape to the wire grouping. do both sides this way. you now have a complete circuit and the light should go off. the light comes on when the pads are worn to a point where the wire ends brake awayand the circuit is now broken causing the warning light to come on. this is letting you know there is hardley any pad left........it's an easy fix taking only a few minutes a side.
