Default what can i use to clean the OUTER PART of my headlight

the original owner of my car replace the right hand side headlight. when i bought the car a few thousand miles ago they both looked great. not the drivers side headlight has some fog/gunk/rough/, etc... crap just on the top of the outside part of the lens. i had some wax, cleaner polish, soft scrub(don't laugh) i tried applying each and every one to see if any were abrasive enough to "wipe it off"... had a litttle bit of success on just a bit of it.

can anyone suggest a cleaner or home remedy i might be able to use to clean this. NOTE: i don't want to wetsand them at all... i'm just hoping someone has this problem and has a quick cure for it. thanks for all your support guys.

also, i have decided to keep the car, i replaced the damged by wife 18's w/new 18's and new tires. looks great and will be posting pics soon.

i hope someone can respond quick as i'm at work, no computer access when i leave until i get a charger for the laptop, and would like to do this when i get home tonight.

THANKS!

You can pick up plastic and glass polishing/repair materials at Eastwood Co, I'd go that route for a good result.

yes, plast-x works great. never tried brasso on headlights, but i originally bought it go get rid of scratches on the back of my iPod, which worked great, i found it at home depot. its a very fine polish, that it worked on the back plastic of my iPod
