yeah there is deffinatly more to that than they are saying. with the subaru its more like the lower fuel takes away power rather than the higher grade adding any hp

Yeah and don't forget the final thought on the overall experiment

"Premium fuels can make your car go faster and on the basis of our tests, Shell's Optimax is a more performance orientated fuel than BP's Ultimate, but only if your car can appreciate the difference."

The next question is;Can my car apreciate the difference?

Damm I've NEVER heard it thank me once afterputting 94 octane in her. THAT BITCH!

lol

octane is the resistance to detenation. the higher you run the more timing/boost you can run. this is why if you put in 87 octane, your car runs like crap. timing is pulled and you lose a good amount of power to preserve the engine. The only thing about shell is that the put in certain additives that they claim to prevent sludge and other harmful things from happening to your engine.

Not fair! Their regular gas is higher octane than our premium...

I'll revive this for a bit here...

They don't have better gas, its a different octane rating system, the US uses an average of MON (motor octane number) and RON (research octane number), this is why you'll see the octane listed as R+M/2 on the pump. Europe uses the RON system. Its the same gas, just a different scale its rated on.

Ohh, that makes sense. I like it their way, better...

Who wants higher octane, can add ethanol, aceton, into the system.
Though fuel system would need to be upgraded.
Or
alternative fuels as Propane (105-115 octane), Methane (130-145 octane).
I recomend Propane. :)

Whenever I run 92 octane gas compare to 94 octane gas from the same company/driving habits and condition/gas station my mpg went down by a mile or two!

Nice video... But how can I know if my ride can enjoy the defference...?
I own a 2.8 a4 96 quattro and to be honnest, right now, I put regular gaz.
Some a4 96 to 99owner talk like they ride is running like a F1. I mean they says
that a4 2.8 is more faster then a 1.8t and a 2.8 is a fast car.
4 real, im a bit sad cause a 2.8is not that fast. But if the gaz can add more power,
I will switch right now.
