Default keyless entry battery replacement

Hello, my mom has a 98 A6 with the switchblade? key. I think it has a dead battery as the keyless entry doesn't work. I tried taking it apart and have gotten the key to seperate for the keyless entry control but thats about it. Anyone know how to replace the battery in one of these? Is this a dealer job?? If i can replace it myself do you have to reprogram it when you get the new battery in because she only has one key, being that she bought the car used. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Ryan

Default RE: keyless entry battery replacement

You can replace the battery yourself. The instructions are in the owner’s manual. Also the remote may need to be reprogrammed after you replace the battery, this procedure is also in the owner’s manual.
