I purchased an HDTV this past weekend for my house. Based on budget, practicality, technology and durability, I decided on a flat-widescreen tube. The DVD picture is incredible. I also just picked up an HD cable box, in hopes that at least some channels show up as good as the DVD's.
My question is:
I have Moster cables connecting my DVD player to the TV right now. Is it really making a difference in the picture quality?
The cables that the cable company (Time Warner) gave me with the new box are the generic low-end component cables. If I want to ensure best quality picture for my channels, do I really need to switch to high-end monster cables? I’d appreciate any help.
Thanks!

There's a point of diminishing returns with cables. Yes, it is a good idea to have higher end cables. It does make a difference in the picture. But the question becomes, wether or not the price is worth the money. That's a question only you can answer. Personally, I run these... Tributaries. You can get them a lot cheaper than the price listed here.
I'll go with the Monsters. One thing I noticed is that the cable TV picture may not be as good as it could be because I live in a high rise where I share cable lines with othe units? I'll play around with the wiring for optimal picture. Also, after I hooked up my HDTV cable box last night, I can't adjust the screen size when watching TV. It's defaulted at "wide zoom" for some reason. With my other digital box, I was able to adjust the size without problems.
I've got some figuring out to do, but in the meantime, any other advice would be appreciated.
regular tv youll notice little to no difference, if ur runnin a digital cable box then that should make sh!t clear for you. Your signal mite be lil weaker but shouldnt affect it that much. mess around with some settings, like ur video modes (movie, dynamic, standard etc.) I found for regular tv, movie is a good mode, cuz it kinda blurs the picture so all the static kinda blends in together. i did a custom setting and it looks nice. my dvd player doesnt let me resize either, for some reason it likes the wide zoom. i wouldnt worry too much about that tho, the picture will be at its clearest when ur in wide zoom
monster cables dont need to be run on the average tv but now with these HDTVs like what u bought they will actually make a difference in the picture quality. My friend switched his xbox cables and now it looks way better and its a HDTV.
