Default cruise control?

i just bought a 2000 1.8 avant manual, and when i was test driving it, i noticed the cruise control didn't work. with electricals, the first thing i checked was the fuse box, and indeed there wasn't a fuse in the cruise control spot. however, when i DID put a fuse in, it just didn't fit right. it was loose. upon further inspection, i can't see any metal connectors in the cruise control fuse slot at all! so before i start taking things apart i'm wondering (since my car didn't come with an owner's manual, and this is my 1st audi): did cruise control come standard on 2000 a4's? is it possible for the connectors to be pushed THROUGH the fuse box? could the fuse map be incorrect? any insight would be great since i'm a big fan of cruise control.

1) fuse map on fuse box should be correct one, unless some replaced cover (just guessing) .
2) it's standard on 2000 a4
3) it would be really hard to push connectors out off fuse box.

cool, thanks for the hints. but i'm not gonna get crazy on this until i can rule out the simplest item: the fuse box. i'm STILL wondering why there aren't any electrodes in the #11 spot! do they fall out sometimes? i'd love this to be a 2 cent fix, 'cause i love using cruise control. helps avoid speeding tix.

Default RE: cruise control?

I am having a similar problem with my "new" '98 2.8 and Ialso looked at thefusebox first. It seemsthat that spot in the fuse panel is reserved for the CC on AUTOMATIC trannies. mine is manual.

I am also having a problem with the "buzzer". when the seatbeltws arent fastened, or when the door is open in thekey in the ignition, it doesnt buzz. there is no fuse for that, and I examined EVERY fuse in the panel--all were OK. am I missing something? Are these problems related?

Thank you in advance for any help!
