Default Resetting Engine and Airbag Light

I was told some of the "trouble lights" such as the airbag light comes on when the battery cable is disconnected and stays onuntil it is reset. Is this so and can an average Joe reset this or any other such error codes/lights himself/herself?

Thanks.

No. You need to have Audi reset the airbag light. It's a tricky reset that can cause the airbag to be deployed if done incorrectly.
