breather hose replacement
 

Hi, I broke my breather hose when changed my valve cover gasket. Just wondering, is there a special reason for that to be a plastic hose? Can I just use a 8 dollar radiator hose instead of spending a hundred dolllars for the special hose?

I used regular rubber hose, works well for me (replaced almost all of them).

The only reason to not do I can think about is possibility that oil vapors will brake down rubber hose and its particles will get into the engine. However I don't think oil vapors are that harmful. Also your breather hoses are probably clogged with sludge anyway.
