i believe that its not nessasary the thickest that are the best i know hostchkins makes a sway bar that is ajustable and u can make it the way u want. my personal opion u want it pritty stiff so that u can take corners fast and hold to the ground

But would making the sways stiff up rear not cause more oversteering? I have a set of h-sport sways on the way in and was looking for the ideal settings. I was thinking stiff up rear and mid settings in the front but I don't want when taking corners at higher speeds for the back to come loose...
Yes. If you have a stiffer sway-bar in the back, it will tend to decrease the understeer, although I think you'll still need to push it very hard to get the back to come loose. You should be able to offset it by putting a stiffer sway-bar up front, too, which will sort of balance it out.

with all that said, how much does the quattro system come into play in these instances? how will it effect understeer/oversteer, with respect to the settings of the sway bars?
i have front and rear h&r swaybars on my b6 and it handles so frikin good you can't belive it, hardly any changes to under/oversteer, body roll is all most not present unless you really push it. great mod for the money.

nice, im askin for h-sports as a grad./ bday present woot!
if you get the full set you can mix and match settings how you want them. if you push it hard and you get too much oversteer, loosen the back a little bit, or tighten the front, w.e u want
basically the rear bar controlles oversteer, the front one controlles understeer... it will take a couple laps on the track, or a a few runs through the local twistys to get em right...
the only thing you gotta worry about is subframe cracking, because the bar is so stiff that it transferes all the force to its mounting spots. H-sport includes re-inforcements that are pretty easy to put in that eliminates this problem... it spreads out the load.
best sway's for a4's are the h-sports, hands down...

how much does it cost for the front and rear sways? And i know it's a dumb question but do sway bars effect drive comfort at all?
