YOU CAN NOT RUN A BOV ON A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM, UNLESS YOU GET A ECU TUNE FOR IT! End of story. If you don't want to spend the $1000 to get the car tuned, you can not run it. YOU WILL loose performance, you WILL get CELS, you will loose gas mileage, you WILL wear out a lot of expensive parts (cats, EGT's, plugs).


This will also happen with the Hybrid DV's. less so, but still happen.

So, stock, or just a chip, Bosh 710n. If you want more get the Forge 007. Spending $800 for Hybrid DV's is a waste of $$ to make your car run like POOP!!!

You know, neither the STI, or the EVO use BOV, both use DV's & have the same issues running BOV's.

thanks for clearing this up for everyone, eventhough its been posted a gazillion times. if you want the BOV noise why dont u get a air compresser put it in your trunk, and when u shift have it release air into a BOV hooked onto it lol. ok thats a dum idea, but i think it will work.
oh and about the Japanese cars: love the preformance-hate the style (unless kept modest and classy, none of that huge body kit sh*t)-love the price of them

This is the S4 Forum, not the A4, all of our cars, are much faster then the A4 also. ;) I also own a 4G63T powered car, that is faster then my S4.

You can use a BOV, that has been recirculated. Yes, you can not run a VTA BOV on an Audi, & that is the point of this thread. Check the FAQ in the A4 forum about all the BOV info you need

you can use a bov if it is rerouted before the MAF. its all based on where the air is measured.

but other than that you would have to use the HKS SSQ (iirc) BOV, which works fine with the s4 system

Then that would make it a Diverter valve & not a BOV. The whole point is you can't vent it to atmosphere.

are you talking about the HKS BOV? because it is atmospheric and has not caused any issues with our cars.

U have somekind of PSSSHHH noise when u put K&N filter on stock airbox and drill holes in top of it, or use cone filter, and i think that by-pass valves must be better than original (Forge etc.)

if you ask me, blow off valves are out dated. It's all about the whooo whoooo!

REMEMBER ALSO> If it doesn't have an S or an RS in the Model type it ain't worth wasting the money into!!!!

i know im new to audis but im not to turbo cars and i put 2 bov's on my 2000 s4 and it runs fine lost a little mpg but o well and it runs better down the highway the rmps dont surge anymore because the stiffer spring in the aftermarket bov's dont leak boost

What BOV' did you put on? The issue is just that the MAF meters the air as it enters the intake. The ECU uses this to decide how much fuel to add, when you vent this pre measured charged air into the atmosphere it messed up your ECU. Even if the effects arent obviously negative to you, you MAY pay the price later on replacing sensors and such.

HKS SSQ recerc?

Its been touched on a couple times allready on this page. If it is 100% recirculation it wont cause problems. Hybrid valves will be less of an issue, but problems can still occur. And complete vent to atmpsphere is not supposto be used in this car. Sure you can install it and your car will run but the s4 is programmed to have DV's not BOV's and you will more than likely be doing damage to your vehicle, even if it is not immedietly apparrent to you

Here is a brilliant idea... Instead of wasting money on VTA BOV's which will hurt your car later down the road why dont people just invest in some bigger turbos? Exhaust? 710N's? and MAYBE a chip... and instead of a woosh noise. People would hear a loud whistle and then a quick little snap from the dv. BRILLIANT

FWIW, the UrS world doesn't really go for the BOV approach either. Most of us stick with Diveter valves.

Allthough, i have seen some HIGH HP AAN applications where a BOV is used but that's usually in conjunction w/ some uber crazy setup....
