What should I do now?

I turn on the AC and the fans do come on. I can drive the car about 20-30 minutes before it creeps up too hot. Do you think it's the thermo.

Should I take it to an Audi dealer for them to look at or should I try and replace the thermo myself. Is it difficult to replace the thermo?

Thanks for all your help.

2001. I'm now thinking it may be an auxiliary fan since I can drive it for a while. If it was the themo stuck I think it would overheat much quicker.

Any Opinions?

I ended up taking it to the audi dealership and they said the diagnostic says it's the Thermostat. The audi dealership wants to charge me $1,100 to change the Thermo or $1,465 to change the Thermo, Water Pump and Timing Belt. They have to take off the water pump and timing belt to get to the Thermo.

Are these really the correct prices?

HELP!!!

That's correct for the dealership. Take it to an independant shop. They will charge you ~500 to change all that.

dannyw,
Better be sure whomever does the work, that they also replace the tensioner, rollers, cam seal, and you may as well toss in a serp. belt if it hasn't been done yet. Had my 98 A6Q done 2 weeks ago at an inde shop for $800+.

I can't find an independent shop here in the Kansas City area to do the work for under the dealership. I guess I'm stuck with the dealership.

Thanks for the help.
