I am purchasing a 2001 A6 Avant with 150,000 miles and am considering purchasing an extended warranty. I'm just wondering what the primary problems that these vehicles will likely have at this age???? Since the warranty is only covering the transmission and the engine/waterpump (no suspension, etc.) I am wondering if the $800 cost of a 5 year, 100,000 miles coverage is worth it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
I bought my 2001 A6 with only 48K on it. The same year as mine with 150K on it, I would not of even looked at that car with that many miles on it, uinless it was free. How much are you paying for it?
paid $8.5k....drives great.....btw, I didn't ask if you would buy it, I was asking for opinions on extended warranty coverage and the typical problems at this mileage.
Sorry I gave advice you didn't like. But this being a public forum that is what happens sometimes. Buy the warranty, since you only paid $8.5K, you probably saved enough to afford it.
The warranty is worth it even if it covers just the transmission. Replaced the Tip in our '99 at 179K. Rough winter roads up here in the Northeast have repeatedly pounded the aluminum front suspension bits. But we still have a rock-solid, year-round performer.
