RE: A6 4.2 suspension upgrade suggestions?
rholmes1068,
Based on my personal research in the forums and hearing directly from my Indy guy I decided to go with theHotchkis sways, H&R sport springs, and the Koni sport shocks. All three suspension modsplus four new Continental ContiExtremeContacts and new slotted front rotors.Other than a possible new caliperdue to minor seizures (epileptic)and new control arms within the next 6-12 months that should take care of the bottom half of the car for awhile.
I decided to go with this setupvs. coilovers because...
A. This is an A6, not an A4/S4/RS4; our overall modding capabilities are
limited and pricey for max performance. Subtle, tasteful mods.
B. I won't be tracking this car professionally. Not enough money or time.
C.Coilovers are probably not a super duper great idea on a2-ton car.
D.Cost. Outside of the tires I am paying the same amount for parts to
includethe new rotors.
Overall, this setup is price vs. performance savvy. These upgrades give the car a substantial, yet subtle improvement that will keep the car grounded without sacrificing too much comfort and will keep you from spending time adjusting ride height just because you can.
Granted this is the setup I went with, but ultimately the decision is yours.
I'm excited to see how things turned out. Itshould be complete by today, but I won't get to see it until I get my 4 day pass at the end of the month.
Good luck!
