Well I was driving around with my friend and he says that he should race me in his parents 07 Hyundai Sonata. I assumed that I would win. However, coming home and looking it up, I see that it could very easily be a close match judging by the specs of each car... if I lost to a Sonata i would be very sad... That thing has 234hp though and is supposedly like 400 lbs. lighter.... What do you guys think. We probably will never race but i am just thinking theoretically.

No way man!!! is that 2.7 stock??? It should beat that thing even if it weren't you got a crap load more traction from a stand still and the sonata would never catch you.

What kind of normal cars could beat my car stock? I should be able to eat up grand prix's/am's, most mustangs and like ricers right? What could take my car tho?
My brother in laws rental car was an 07 Sonata. I was very impressed with the direction Hyaundi has gone. A good frind of mine back in high school had a Scoop and it was ok, but nothing special. His Sonata I drove handled well, the interior was nice for a 21k car, the breaks were firm, ac was amazing. Overall I felt it was a good car, your money would be better spent on an Accord/Camry though.
I have the 2.8l engine, so just about any car can take me I would assume, don't know, never race.
If the Hyaundi is fresh off the lot and the Audi is a little beat down then you might have some competition but you should still be able to handle him. What ive noticed is that after a few thousands mile those hyuandis drive like crap.
Second the Maxima statment up there... Those Maximas from the current years body style to the one just before the current year are wicked quick for a off the line. The autos will even light the front tires up through second gear. Ive never driven a 4.2 but Id guess that it'd be a good race.

Anything that can go 0-60 in better than 6 seconds will beat you. And that assumes you shift perfectly, like an automatic transmission (usually) does. The A6 is fast but still not as quick as others off the line because of the weight and the AWD.
A nissan maxima would dust your car like it wasn't even there. The cops use several of them as un-marked units out here is sac.
I do not think this is completely accurate. The Maxima has 255Hp which is just 5 more Hp than the 2.7T, so I do not agree with the "dusting" as you put it! If law enforcement is using them, they could be modified for more Hp though. I know the MD police are using Dodge Chargers. They are not the SXT which has the 400Hp output, they are using the RT which still has 340HP. I have seen them rolling and they are quick.

Alright my friend and i performed a little experiment to aid in this discussion although it isn't a 2.7t A6. The race is a 2003 4.2L A6 vs. a 2006 Nissan maxima auto. (we might have borrowed the A6 from the used car dept. at audi........) But anyway we lined them up for a quarter mile race, (i was in the audi) his girlfriend flagged us and we took off. The audi of course took off a lot better than the nissan which was burning the tires through second gear, we approched about the 1/8 mile and his car was about a half length behind mine, then he started to pull past mine at a pretty quick rate and just passed mine as we passed the 1/4 mile mark. I don't know how it would play out in a scenario against the 2.7T but i would imagine the 4.2L is a little faster than the biturbo is stock.

I enjoy nothing more then seeing a wrecked rice burner!

Nissan will take a 2.7T TIp, 6 speed will be closer. The Sonata WILL challenge you in manual; more displacement and strong engine, probably lighter car. Driver will make a big difference on the outcome though. The A6 is NOT a red light racer. You have a manual so you ahve an edge over most A6 2.7T owners who could only find a TIP :( Mine will hardly go under 5.5 sec to 60mph. Need to do a 1/4 mile though. But on the road, picking up anywhere from 50 to 90, I can keep up with the new 335's. Was realy close with a chipped 335 this week-end and I had an extra 250 lbs in the car. His car also weighs 200;lbs less ans he had 50 more HP. Your car will be challenged by many from a stand still as many production cars runs 0-60 in 5.5 to 6.5 sec. key is shifting for you

I still find this very hard to believe how a 300Hp 4.2 is not faster then a 255Hp Maxima. What are the models years and milage of these cars that you used?
Unless I see it, I certainly will not believe it!
