According to MSN the 2.7 6MT A6 has a much better 0-60 time tho. Although, I have yet to see a UNIFORM answer as to what the projected 0-60 time for the 2.7t is. MSN says, 5.79 sec. I have heard other places that it's supposed to be 6 secs. flat. And then on auto.com it says the 0-60 is 7.1 secs.!!! ARG! lol

Either way I would rather be rolling in a stylish Audi than most other cars, so let them be faster than me!!!

Most newer sedans are pushing 300hp+ and getting a lot better fuel economy than the used too.

Are you kidding a Hyundai Sonata? I've smoked a dozen of those in Minneapolis along with those Maximas. There was only one time that a Maxima sat on my quarter panel, after that I never bothered to look in the rear view mirror anymore

Got the APR Stage III turbo kit, RS4 intercoolers, GIAC chip 93 octane software, APR R1 Diverter valves, and an APR catback exhaust. This will stop most cars or it looks like they're stopped

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. For 6spd it depends on the launch too.

We need to look at this realistically, my car is a 2000 and it had 250Hp back then when Hyundai was still scratching their asses. It only took them 7 years to develop a motor that can compete with ours. Look at our cars compared with the Sonata, Camry and Maxima, there is no comparison inside or out, and they sure as hell do not have the handling or braking we have and our cars are heavier.

Just do what alot of us have done, modify your car correctly and you'll still kick their ass, I know I have!
Those cars have no style that sets them apart from others anyway, who the f*ck would want to own one!

Down with the rice!

OOOO

i agree with u on that...but i wouldnt call my 03 maxima a ricer....and it def had lots of power and with my suspension it would out handle the a6...but then again i dont have a suspension on my a6 cuz it sucked ass on the maxima as a daily driver...all in all i wouldnt go back..even though ive just put 3k into my a6

How is a front wheel drive maxima outhandle an AWD Audi? I will take that bet all day.. That boils down to the driver. Modify a sport suspension (AUDI) with sway bars and coilovers and you will be pulling away from most everything through corners and straights. I have a 4.2 sport and my buddy has a 3.5 Maxima (05). From a dig it is close. He weighs less and those 3.5's are torquey. -- still, to 75mph he was barely on my quarter panel. I did'nt blow him away but he wasn't going to catch me. Keep in mind we both autocross manual 2 seater sports cars on the track (1970 Datsun Z and Porsche 911 -1978) so we know how to drive.We even traded cars, and even though the maxima is no slouch, I simply did'nt have the torgue to catch up to the 4.2. We tried fom a roll and it was simply no contest. I kept pulling and pulling. The 4.2 is a freeway monster. Now, the 2.7t only has 50 less HP. 0-60 times are 6.5-6 for the 2.7t and the 4.2 is 6.1-2. Pretty comparable.

What sets it apart for me (besides the performance) is the styling. Yes, hyundai has come along way. My mom had a 1988 GLS..Was a POS but hyundai has come along way and the sonata isn't bad. The camry is overstyled and for the 265 HP the sticker boasts was a complete slouch...blah! Those cars have always been boring in the styling interior/exterior department. Nissan looks the best in my opinion but it is still a Japanese car and therefore a ricer. Period!

Its a bit of topic, but i got eaten by a 07 Lexus GS350 AWD. I really love to direction that lexus is going. After Audi, those would be my next prospect. With a 0-60 of 5.1 and a 1/4 mile of 13.9 its a respectable car, not to mention a great AWD system, good fuel economy and a 3.5L V6 with 306HP. Did I forget killer good looks? Seems they are shifting away from the rest of the ricers.....

Also, My dads 07 Passat 3.6 4motion WAGON is neck in neck with me everywhere but 95mph and up on the highway.

After driving my rental '06 Chrysler Sebring for a while I can tell you one thing, my brother in laws rental Sonata was like driving a lexus in comparison.  We also had an Hyaundi Azera for a rental and again in comparison to the Sebring, the Azara is a Mercedes.  The Azera was really nice, if I didn't know better I might buy one.  Why oh why do people buy Chryslers?

Dodge\Chrysles\Jeep, the company makes decent truck, thats what there known for. If you really want a american Luxury car, get a Caddy or a Buick, everyone knows that!!.....you might laugh at Buick, but they ride good because there're going after the older drivers (50-60), the inside looks young, but the inside of most american car are young.

One question.... Why buy American cars at all if they are junk??
I love being a patriot, but buying a worthless POS to me is not being a Patriot...
Luxury = European.....

I work for a hyundai dealership and drive new sonatas everyday.  My 2.7T 6spd. would take one any day, they have a 0-60 of 7.0sec.  The azera would be closer as it is by far the fastest car in our lineup.  The sonatas are awesome, and for the value you can't get a better grocery getter.  Oh and I already beat a new gen altima which sports the maximas 3.5 in a lighter car.  Close but the awd launches soooooo much better.

The way I see it...
American = Best work trucks.
European = Best cars OVERALL.
Asian = Best BUDGET cars.

6spd were the ley letters on your post!
Also the Sonata,like the V6 Accord, will actually pull a mid 6sec to 60mph. A 2.7T 6spd pulls low 6, tip mid 6. It'd be close race with a 2.7T TIP, which launches like crap unless you mod the tranny. Sonata's got almost same HP and more displacement too. Azera is super nice for the $, just heavy.

Lexus GS350 is a very nice ride, A6 4.2 is no match for it. I just don't like how "lifeless" they drive, even the fast ones. NUmb driving. I also like the Audi interiors better but Lexus puts together a great overall package for a competitive price. As for the Passat, finally a good engine to match its size and weight. Not a fan of the line though. I think teh Audi 4.2 looks great stock! A catback wakes the V8 up with great sound!
