Default how i fixed my engine light for free

so my engine light came on again today (just 3 weeks after spending $700 to replace water pump, timing belt, and O2 sensor). I went to auto zone and had the guy come out to scan my computer, but when he plugged into the vag com port, he got no feedback because *suprise* my vag com port is broken too. so i got in my car, slammed my fist intothe dashboard as hard as i could about 8 times [:@], and then turned onto the main street and jammed the accelerator to the floor and redlined the car in first gear. and when i looked at the dash, *suprise* the light was gone...wow.

this is the stupidest car i've ever owned...

Smart...

$700 isn't that much for a t-belt replacement... many spend much more than that. How do you know your OBD2 port is broken? You DO know any auto parts store can scan your car for error codes, right?

wow i thought i was really getting bent over spending that much on a job that costs about half the price on any other car, but i guess i'm not the worst case. the light is still off, so i guess i'll have to just pray it stays off until i get a chance to SELL THAT HEAP

i've never driven the car hard until now (mainly because something else will probably break) but lo and behold, when i roid-raged on the car it actually fixed it. bleh, not the car to own when you're on a halotestin cycle, that's for sure...[&:]
but anyway, i'm looking into buying a code reader (since i'll probably be using it alot...). which brand/model do you recommend?

well if its the "worst car you've ever owned" then why not cut your losses and buy something you can drive and not have to worry about ?

haha that is definately one way to do it!

On the other hand, if you like your car. . . you can un-hook the connections to your battery for about 30 seconds, once you re-hook the connections the engine light will be off
(no telling how long until it comes back on however!)

i did this on my 2000 1.8TQM, it didnt get rid of the brake pad warning light though

ok so like.. your car is a money pit, so you punch it when something breaks. you should really treat your car better than that, lol

i've kicked a car, but never done something that could severely fuck it up, that would just be stupid. 700 bucks for that job isn't bad at all. i spent about 800 and i know the mechanic. he did some other random hoses and sensors too while he was in there, but he said that job would usually be around 1200 around here.
