Thinking of purchasing a 2003/2004 Audi A4 1.8T, just wondering how many miles/km the engine will be good for in stock form?

I've searched and found nothing

It all depends on how well it's taken care of. Keep up with the routine maintenance (oil/filter changes every 5k with approved synthetic, timing belt every 60K, etc.), and the engine will last 200K or more. Neglect it and you'll have lots of problems.

seen them with 200k plus and still running strong

I've seen guys with 200k+ miles. It all depends on how well you maintain it. Regular oil changes, seal changes,timing belt changes, tune ups,letting the motor cool down after a drive, and simple upkeep will keep it going fora long time.

Themain killers of 1.8t motorsare timing belt failure, timing belt tensionerbreaking, and oil sludge.

Just talkin' jive ass turkey. But if maintained, there ain't no telling how many miles one could end up with.

Timing belt should be changed with the tensioner before 90K mi.
Oil changes every 10K mi. with a Mann W94025 oil filter.

If you really want the 1.8t to last change the oil every 3K with synthetic only, do the timing belt/water pump every 60K.
