Hello gentlemen-
I am new to the website and a new A4 owner as well.
First of all, I have read many posts in the Newbie area and many of my questions were answered. I do howeverhave a few general questions I could not find answers to.
I am a former 00 S4 owner, so Ido have limited Audi and A4 knowledge.
1.T-belt tennsioner did fail on the car at 58000 andconsecuently the engine was damaged (she was driving down the down the road at 50 mph). The good news is the dealer replaced practicly the entire engine. The question is (this might seem obvious, butI do not know) was there a fix to the origional problem that thedealer would have performed? Are the new tennsioners better/improved for longer millage or are you still rolling the dice if you are at 60000 or over?I do not need to change mine now, just wondering for in the future.
TB needs to be replaced around $70k - she just got unlucky
The car I am selling is a 97 BMW 328. I just bought new tires for it. They are 225-50-16. My A4 has the sport pkg. with 205-55-16. They are new as well, butI like the tires on my BMW better and I am wondering if there will be a problem switching the tires. It is not much of a difference but does anyone think there will be any clearance issues?
plug in your sizes HERE and see the difference
I am going to get someHIDs. I have seem many posts about bulbs, but what I would like to know, does anyone have the 50w bulbs fromSharp? Are the Sharp 50w bulbs really worth the price? I am thinking of buying the 35w bulbs from VVME because of the price. I figure I could always move them to the fogs if I am dissapointed.
Just buy an HID conversion kit from VVME or Visionbulbs.com - 50W is too brite
I do not like the centerventmount boost g. from APR. Does anyone make a good pillar mount g.?
No - there is an airbag in that pillar - so doing an a-pillar pod is not a good idea. there are some that mount to the steering wheel if you want another option.
I am going with APR for the chip, but what about air intakes/filters? Could someone direct me to a post or let me know a goodone? K&N perhaps?
K&N is fine - any other intake is a waste of time and money
Lastly,I think I got a pretty good deal, but wanted yalls opnions.
99.5 1.8 Quatro with 72000 miles, origional owner with all records. No wrecks, but I did spend$343 replacing the from air dam, driver fog light, and some otherfront end stuff. Inside is great, paint is great but there are a few wiskey bumps. Payed $5000
Sounds like you found a good deal - should have been at least 3-6k more than that
