Hello, I have had a problem with my turbo setup with timing retard... I understand that high intake temps would lead to retarding timing.... So my question is what is considered a high intake temp for a GTRS turbo running 20 psi on 91 octane with a FMIC (Greedspeed core cutome piping core is 18"x7"x3")and a 2.5" turbo back(if ambient temps are 68 degrees outside)????

Are you monitoring your intake temps?? You shouldnt have too high of intake temps if you have a decent FMIC.. If its 68 degrees at WOT i will usually pull air about 72 plus or minus a few.
I am pulling a lot of timing through out the RPM range, in the lower RPM range it is pulling about 3-5 degrees then in the upper RPM range it goes upto 9-11 degrees. what else would cause high timing corrections? I am seeing about 100 degrees AIT during moderate driving when the temps outside are 68 degrees....

Really dont think your core is handling the heat very well. You might need to switch to a better core and/or a larger core. Precision make some great cores and at a resonable price. Something like this would be better.

Bingo, hit the nail on the head with that one. change out your core to aGReddy or aPrecision..
what are the demensions of this greedspeed one you have?
The core is 18 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 3" that is not including the end tanks... I think the one posted above includes the end tanks in the dimension. mine is 360 in^3 (cubic inches), which is the same size as the racetec FMIC...so I think the FMIC is big enough but it is all about geometry right????
what do you guys think about my core size? I think I am going to clean the FMIC out (their is some oil residue in their) what should I use to clean out a FMIC?????
