Default Here we go again

Hello AFers,
After recovering from the rear end intrusion I took on replacing my gas tank $3k, ('03, A6, 4.2), I am now getting a failed emmisions code. Unrelated to gas tank, but has something to do with emissions (cannister??) or something. Not a necesary repair until I need to pass emmissions, which wont be for a year. My question is this: I am under the belief that this is about a $75 part, but the repair was to be $280 for an in engine caprtment repair. Does this sound a little whacked?
