Default '03 A6 2.7T "hitching" problem...

When I accelerate quickly between 50mph and 65mph I get a "hitching" feeling from my car. What could explain this? Turbos going bad? Normal?

Also, when I first put my car into either reverse or drive it takes a little time to get into gear. Comparing other cars, it seems to be abnormal, but not sure if it is normal for the tiptronic tranny. I have never owned an Audi before.

Thanks for all the information. I appreciate any feedback.

Don't know what you mean by "hitching", but a very brief hesitation is normal due to turbo lag. It takes a moment for the turbos to spool up and deliver the power surge you expect. I could speculate that there may be some hesitationif the tip tranny downshifts, but I chose the MT6 so I don't know. If I'm driving at 50-60 mph in 6th gear, I'm only pulling ~2400 rpm and the turbos don't really kick in until above 3200. Mine pulls real well from 75 to well over 120, but it's already spinning at about 3000 rpm at 75 mph.

Thanks for the help ppgoal!

The "hitching" I am referring to is like the car is jerking as ifI was tapping the accelerator or something. I have constant pressure on the accelerator, so I have no idea what could be explaining this. Maybe my tranny is causing this as well? Still lost, but thanks for the help.
