My Audi has a major exhaust leak that I want to get repaired. From inspecting the problem I see that one of the pipes directly behind the catalytic converters has separated from the converter at the joining point. This happened because the bolts have rusted through the mount on the above mentioned pipe, so I expect it will have to be replaced. Looking further along toward the muffler it seems that the entire exhaust system behind the converter is made up of 2-3 parts, and it appears that at least one weld has been used to connect these pieces.
I am trying to figure out how many parts there are and what they are called. I will have to bring my Audi to a repair shop and would like to know what I’m dealing with beforehand to avoid being ripped off. I was unable to find any exhaust system diagrams for my car on the internet. Any information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.
