Hi All,
New to the forum here, but wondering if any of you have recommendations/experience with snow tires for the RS4. Currently have stock Pirrelli P Zero. Heard good things about Dunlop M3. Do I have to change rim size down to an 18? Thanks for all your help/comments in advance.

I have only heard good reviews on the Dunlop M3's and yes you will want to drop down the wheel size to 18's, I believe you can package together a 18" wheel/tire winter combo at www.tirerack.com for the RS4

Used Dunlop M3 Snows last season. Worked great. Had them shipped already mounted and balanced with tire gauge sensor from tire rack. Went to a 225/45/18 inch tire on a 7.5 inch width rim. If you use another size be carefull about rim width. Try to stay away from spacers.

my understanding is that driving on snow is alot like skating  rather than using snowshoes to walk through it
unlike dry surface conditions, a smaller narrower tire patch slices through the snow rather than having a broader larger flat surface
Others, please correct me if my reasoning is wrong

You have it right. Wide tires float on top of the snow just like wide skis in powder.

Can't you get 19" in a narrower tire. Also concearned about the tire rotation affecting the speedometer, NAV/GPS callibration with 18s????
