Hello,
I have a 96 cabriolet and the vent blower/motor is rattling (like a baseball card in a bike wheel). There is also small pieces of foam blowing out of the vents. The rattling goes with the speed of the blower. At speed1 it's tac .... tac .... tac, at speed 2 it's tac .. tac .. tac, at speed 3 it's tac . tac . tac, and at 4 it's tac, tac, tac. I hope you get the idea. When I turn on the A/C at speed 4, the noise goes away (I think it runs faster with A/C on).
My guess is that there is an intake filter (made of foam) that is disintegrating, and some is now suck in the blower/motor and some is blowing out of the vents. I'm also guessing the blower/motor is behind the glove box.
So my question is, am I correct so far, and if so, where is this intake filter and how can I clean out the system?
Thanks,
Marc
