Click the attachments link thingy to look at the pictures of my Nav Unit. They one were like you see the grey reciever thing. That is in my trunk and that is where u hook the ipod up to. Once the iPod is connected you can control it from the main console where the screen is as u see in the other pictures.

numb nuts he has the new MMI system, there is no DIN style stereo. He cannot replace it, nor would he want to. The MMI is far superior. NOW, if you want Navi on your non-navi equipped A6 you can buy it from the dealership and have it installed. Here at my dealership it runs $2186 with labor and all included. The software has to be updated and reprogrammed to use it too, so don't think u can just grab one on ebay or something.

As far as bluetooth connectivity goes, I don't really know. Might be something you can add afterwards, but I can't guarantee it.

@Retard Riot 686

Hey, I saw the pictures of your Pioneer system and I like it. Just wondering if there is a model number for it.

A few additional questions:
1) Does the LCD screen come out of the player like a video tape on a VCR and then flip up 90 degrees?
2) Since you keep your ipod in the trunk, what is the interface on the LCD screen like? Can you search through artists, playlists etc. just like in the ipod?
3) How do you update the navigation software on the Pioneer system?

Thanks!

To the answer of ur 1st question. Yes that is exactly how it works.

To the answer to ur 2nd  question. Yes if you look in one of the pictures the lower right knob lets you select songs, genre, playlists etc...

3rd answer is.... The navigation runs off a cd so when they realese new cd's you can purchase them. The navi also does automatic updates by itself.

The model number of my Navi Unit is AVIC-N2.

The link to the pioneer site where my navi is located is..............    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069681_192089333,00.html

I have a 04 A6, that didnt come with a Navi, but I have the shark fin on my roof. From what the guy at the dealership was tellin me that if it had Navi, the direction would pop up where the clock and temp are, next to the RPM's

Anyway, since I have the shark fin, is there a simple fix for this or would I have to get Nav installed.

Yeah Im sure you can put a navi in. Now idk if u can put mine in like mine depends on ur layout if u have the system like I did then yes you can. If you can take a pic of your center console then post it here I can tell you.  And if you put in a Navi like mine. I can guarentee that your Fin wont be a problem.

From looking at Cappachinoo's signature, I can tell that he drives a C5 A6, whose central console will look just like Retard Riot's. So he should be able to put in a Pioneer after market navi system. But I am not sure that is what he is asking.

I think he wants to get the Audi navigation system that is displayed on the car's instrument panel between the speedometer and the odometer and since he already has the shark fin, wants to know if it makes the job any easier.

retard riot, i went into car toys and asked them about that exact pioneer system and told them i have a 1999 audi a6 w/bose and they made it seem like i was screwed. they explained that they would have to replace all the speakers and component involved with the stereo because they were not compliant with aftermarket surround stereo systems. secondly, i admit, the bose sounds pretty damn good, has sound quality been sacraficed since you put in a pioneer system over a bose?

Saint is right, In the owner's manual, it say that the nav system is displayed between my speedometer and the odometer. The shark fin is stock, its used for on star and the nav system. my antenna is enbedded into my rear window.

Since I have the shark fin already, is there any why that I could hook the nav system up?

Cappachinoo, in order to have navi functionality with the DIS (driver information system) you will need to replace your stock stereo with a newer RNS-E for an A6 (around 1K-2K with wiring) but hard to find, been looking for one for a while now...

Said RNS-E is Audi's Nav Unit which will essentially be plug and play (fits with no alterations to interior and all connections needed are present in your A6)

If you are still interested in upgrading your stereo you should look at this http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=462

I might look for the RNS-E factory nav. If I was to get a aftermarket nav, is it posible to have it hooked up to the shark fin, im guessing no, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

SEATTLE im not sure what they were talking about hahaha. I love mine and I STILL have my bose speakers in my car. So really my sound quality wasnt compromised at all. Sorry that they told you all that. Im about to head to work so I will update this tonight with exactly I have/ did.  And To CAPPACHINOO you can hook up a pioneer system in urs even with that Shark Fin. Now im not sure how like if you can use the shark fin because my A6 doesnt have a fin. But I will post a picture of the "Shark Fin" if you will. That like Pioneer uses to transmit and such stuff.

"Retard Riot 686" I posted pic 3 replys up so you can my fin. I was askin about the fin because I saw how your have something hooked up in the trunk. I didnt really want anything in my trunk because I use it (car seat, stroller, when I go on road trips). I was hoping I could use my fin for GPS since its used for On Star if I had it. "R Evolution1 said I would have to get the factory Nav to use the "Audi Way".

Now I dont know if any of the aftermarket system use GPS, but if there were, could I hook it up to my fin?

Umm sorry im not really sure. I dont have a fin so i had to use the thing that Pioneer gave me its not that big maybe 1"x1". Im sure if you find the right tech they could wire into the fin. but like i said its gonna hafta be someone who knows audi's really good if it is at all possible. And that thing in the trunk isnt too big. Maybe 6"x6" around there...
