Default what spring to lower my a6 4.2 liter...and what 19" staggered do you guy's suggest? Post pic's!

My 01 a6 4.2 needs a overhaul bad. lowered with 19"s. What do you guy's recomend since this is my 1st audi and I've alwayss owned bmw's. Post some pics if you would so I can get some Idea's. I've had about seven volkswagen's and 2 mercedes. I love my car and want to trick it out clean and right. It's silver with the 17" five spoke now but I gotta go bigger. Let me know and thanks in advance.
Luke

I don't think staggered wheels jive to good with the quattros?

If you lower it, I would go with a full coil over set up. I have the sport and premium packages and mine is low enough.

There has been a lot of talk on 19" wheels. Do some more research. Most people suggest sticking to 18. Will be cheaper on the pocket, easier on the wheels and less of a headache when trying to buy another tyre.

Ibelieve the allroad has staggered wheels. Non of the other A6 models do though.

I too believe that staggering a quattro has been discussed a number of times here and the overall was that it was a bad idea. I have 18's (255x40) on my 4.2 with sport and lux and it sits pretty low. Get 19's if you really like that look but keep in mind you will reverse much of the comfort ride that the 4.2 was intended to give. 19s will certainly fill up the flared wheel wells and look pretty agressive. Good luck.

I have the bilstein pss9's on my 4.2 and 19x9.5 bbs rs'gt's I wouldn't dream of putting 18's on the car, to me they just look too small. As far as staggered on an audi, although it looks good, it serves absolutely no purpose and makes the handling of the car that much worse. Let's face it, these cars are big like a boat, it's already tough enough to make these cars handle 1/2 decent. Just my $0.02. I have a set of Iforged Seneka's 19x8.5 if your looking for something with a lip. Check the classifieds.

Here is a pic of my current set-up.

My car will look like yours very soon. I love it man. What's the drop height on those billie's? That's my exact car, color and everything. Only mine has those 17" five spoke wheels that come on the TT. I agree fully though...the 19"s are the only look for me. Ride quality is worse but not that bad and 18"s look to small. I was thinking about a 19x8.5 RS6 five spoke since I've already had BBS LM's on my 540i i just got rid of. I have a 90 bmw E30 with mesh rims also. Something different...what do you think?

Sometimes being practical gets a bit boring.

Can't go wrong with the RS6 wheels, very nice. I personally prefer the mesh look, I've had them before and I just think that they suit our European cars so well, classic design. Either wheels you can't go wrong. As far as the stance of the pss9's, the car could actually go lowerif I wanted but I figure it's too much trouble to have the cartoo low, I would have to guess that it's probably1/4" from the wheels being tucked. Idon't remember the measurements from the ground up. Hope that helps, let us knowwhat you decide to do with the car.

Andy
