I filled windshield wash fluid in my Audi A6 3.0 to the neck. But it ran out in just 4 days, where I have not used it at all. Obviously there is some kind of leakage, but can it be so that there is a draining facility which is left open during a recent service?

You probably have a bad o-ring somewhere in the system or a hole in one or more of the tubing. Very common on these cars.

Thanks. Is there a way I can repaire myself or need to take to a service center? What amount of expense am I looking at for this?

You should be able to get at the unit from the bottom. I would bet the problem is in the plumbing to the headlight washers. I had the same problem and firstreplaced the headlight washerassemblies in the bumpers. It started leaking again. I just bit the bullet and had my shopblock the headlight washer system. If was an easy fix according to them.

The headlight washer system pumps out a huge amount of fluid when you wash your windshield with the lights on.

I have the same problem. It's the rubber seals around the two pumps. One costs $3, the other less than $2. You have to get to the washer bottle from the wheel well. It's a pain!

Thanks Bob. I will give it a try and check how far I get with the fix.

Like Bob, my leak was down to the rubber washers around the pumps. A bit annoying having to get to it from the wheel liner, but easy enough if you jack the car to get some more space.

I didn't want to remove my wheel...
