I have a 2000 A6 2.7T. My driver side window is having a problem going all the way up. It seems that the motor works ok, but it slows down and sometimes goes back down when trying to make it go up. With a little assistance I can get it up, but I can't figure out if it's the regulator or just off track. I believe the regulator comes with the motor. I'm trying to fix it without having to pay someone for all the labor charges. Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A6Kris,

I had this problem, and it turned out that one of the two plastic clips that attach to the window has broken.
With only one clip the windows is being pushed up mainly from one side, which causes a rotational torque
on the window, making it jam while going up. The problem is most noticable when the window is wet like during or after
a rain. Note that if one window has a broken clip then the other window probably does too, or it will break soon.
The dealer replace both side on my 2001 A6 (under warranty, certified used).

Rich

The sticky/slow windows is actually covered under the "LQ Service Action Letter."

They inspect the window door regulators as well as the clips which become dislodged/broken.
Here is what my invoice read:

PERFORM LQ SERVICE ACTION LETTER FOR A6 MODEL YEARS 1998-2001 INCLUDES:
Install front bumper guides, inspection/repair of front window regulators, headlight washers, ashtray, and front door side moldings as per service action letter.

Some people spray at bit of silicone lubricant on the outside upper corner (facing the rearward part of the car) as that section tends to generate the most friction against the rubber/felt lining.

Good luck!
