I have an 02 S4 with the factory Bose and want to hook up an amp and sub (the base on the factory 6 1/2's is weak). Been reading several posts but need more info on taping the power wire into the battery. Once I get it hooked in I've got good enough step by steps to run in back to the trunk.

Can someone provide some steps to get the power wire hooked into the battery? thanks

I believe that in 2002 both the b5 and b6 bodystyle were available...if you do have the b6 bodystyle this may still help you, but the pics are from my b5...

this is a pic of the grommet on the drivers side (in the engine bay) behind the ecu box;

basically what I did was from the inside of the car, after removing the base of the dash (4 bolts hold it in place(on the b5))...you will most likely see a gasket similar to the one in the second picture, what I did was I took my leatherman knife and carfully made a 3/8" to 1/4" incision in the gasket (be very careful not to cut any of the wires)....after that Itook a close hanger and straightened it all the way out, then I attached it to the end of my power wire with duct tape....when I did this I tappered it so that the diameter gradually grew from the width of the hanger to the width of the power wire (so not to get hung up)...then from the engine bay side (first pic) I stuck the close hanger through the incision I made earlier and then from under the dash pull all the wire through, remove hanger wire, then tuck the power wire under the sill where the carpet meets the plastic on the drivers side....hopefully some of that was understandable and helpful...

*note*- I did not remove the ecu box (mainly because I didn't feel like it), but if you do, it will honestly probable save you anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes (possibly)
