ORIGINAL: cato1974 I am sure you could get one into the states.. but you would be stuck with a right hand drive here... might be a bit of an issue.. Oddly enough people have this impression right hand drive isn't legal in the us. It is, ish.generally to import a car you have to do one of two things depending on the situation. A if its a car already available in the US you are expected to make whatever changes are necessary to make it Identical to the US car. BIf its not, this is where it gets tricky, you are expected to get the car legal, which can involve any range of things. I have a friend who back before lotus started bringing the Elise over to the us, he wanted one, which meant he had to get it to pass US safety standards. He brought 3 over, crashed them, showed the held to standard, and did a few other things. Generally though, since the RS4 avant is so similar to current US spec cars you wont be stuck on this side. There are a lot of importers in the US and some specialty guys who can do this stuff. Evolutionimports.com is great Japanese importer. There are European ones, just look em up. Keep in mind, once your car hits the Docks, customs will hold it till an legal importer comes to pick it up. They will not let you take it yourself, unless its been imported for parts. DOn't bother importing it as a custom/.car show/race car because then they ask how long you'll be here and will expect you to leave. :-) Anyway, good luck with whatever you do. I don't think they'll bring them into the US based on the fact that wagons just don't do well here.
