i feel you on the PITA custom FMIC .What on God's green earth are you talking about? I assume PITA stands for Pain In The A** and not the greek flat-bread... I'll just go with that assumption..... did you use all t-bolt clamps to avoid blowing your pipe's off, and do you have a 180 or 225? I own the 180 and I used standard radiator hose clamps. If tightened with a hex-head and not a phillips, they actually hold quite well. I've only had a couple leaks and it's been due to faulty pipe...not clamps.
cause i know with my 180 the little asian girls FUK ME and FUK U bent me over and gave me a PITA I don't really know how to respond to this, except to say....um....congratulations?

dtkelley2005 09-08-2007, 09:20 PM I've had my baby for about 3 months now and so far the only mod has been a euro front license plate (not pictured). I am planning on getting the windows tinted here in the next couple of weeks though. And in the last 3 months, I've been lucky enough to only have the engine coolant sensor go out on me ($155.71).

Do you know what that rail in the center is? No one can tell me.
dtkelley2005 09-09-2007, 12:12 PM It's the mount for the factory installed hands-free system for the Motorola V60 (See here (http://audi.autowebaccessories.com/store/audi-tt-hands-free-cellular-phone-adapter-kit-prod1151_11800.php)). When I got my car, I removed the black plastic piece and left the aluminum rail for use as just a grab handle.
MeanAudiA6 09-09-2007, 12:17 PM gotta love the votex front chin...
Wintermute 09-09-2007, 02:59 PM Ah, I just removed the entire rail since I couldn't take apart the black mount.
dtkelley2005 09-09-2007, 09:26 PM I've also heard of people using it to somehow mount newer cell phones, iPods, and other gadgets. I was going to just remove the whole thing too, but I liked the way aluminum looked!
moeron7 09-10-2007, 01:14 AM Why did it cost you $150 to replace the coolant sensor? Its like $25
dtkelley2005 09-10-2007, 01:31 AM Well, for the past month or so, the check engine light has beencoming on and going off randomly.I didn't know what was causing it so I took it to the stealership. The part was like $33.50 and labor was $119, then there is tax... But hey, they did vacuum out my car and wash it for me, so that made it all better!

$119 in LABOR!!! It takes maybe 10mins. 5 to let the coolant cool down and 5 to swap out the old part with the new.
Do you research from now on before you go blowing money like that. That repair was a very easy DIY.
dtkelley2005 09-10-2007, 10:40 AM Trust me, if I had know that it was something easy like that I definitely would have done it myself!

As far as I can tell, the previous owner put the whole rally racing design on the car with vinyl decals then "ghosted" it. It's an interesting raised effect - but personally think they sprayed too much - it's hardly noticable. Most peeps think the paints faded because the decals were removed.
When I buy my new TDI TT I'm going to do the same ;)

diehlryan 10-24-2007, 09:23 AM I'll be getting a new mod today (hopefully.) I'll post pics later tonight. I'll see if you can figure it out. It should prove to be the best mod I've done yet.

When are you going to smoke those blinkers/parking lights?
A better question is when are you? Atleast I did the reflector delete.
As for my ULTIMATE mod today. It was a CUSTOM Unitronic Re-Map to the "TUNE" (pun intended) of 225-30hp/260-70lb-ft.
Amazing what a little remap will do. The car was still adapting the entire way home so I'm still getting more out of it everytime I ask. I'm pretty impressed with the response/boost/pull compared to the Revo trial. Definitely the way to go.
and.... my wife ordered me that 3" DP someone posted up from EBay the other day. That will be getting installed in a few weeks once I work out test pipe vs cat and get the rest of the gaskets and bolts I need for the install.
and Becca - you're on for that straight line race to see which is faster, chipped 180 vs chipped 225 and black vs silver.

Part 2: Don't forget Quattro vs FWD and Coupe vs Roadster! It'll be THE race to remember!

proxeyed 10-30-2007, 12:55 PM Not only windows, but smoke the tail-lights, side markers, headlight reflectors. Maybea light tint on the headlights as well. Just food for thought.
Okay lets get back to pic whoring.

but remember us FWD guys have to stick together.
Murderface 11-11-2007, 08:38 PM So I'm the only FWD with nice condition rims here?;)
Mine were refinished about 17k miles ago. They have no no crubbage but have some tiny marks on the edges from potholes which you can hardly notice anyhow...which is weird considering my tires aren't that small and there's not many potholes around here. 225/45/17's which means about a 2" sidewall.
cincyTT 11-11-2007, 08:41 PM every TT i looked at had wheels that were curbed to hell

On another note.. driving it into work today.. 70mph the car shakes like all hell. Looking into new tires now and a mount and balance.
Everytime I try and save money by doing a self-made mod the car finds a way to suck the $$ out anyway.

lobsTTer!! 11-13-2007, 05:49 PM There are track events and Sanctioning bodies in which they are required, and advisable, luckily have not needed to be extracted from some mishap (knock on billet aluminum hehe) but ... I have used it to get ON the flat bed for emergency transport. No ill effect and certainly no plans for any distance longer than that. If it is, probably more than a haldex issue to contend with.

LoveTT 11-24-2007, 04:05 PM Nothing special. Just my new TT. 2.0T Premium, 18" with RFT Rossos. What else? Not much, I think only other option is iPod integration. So far nothing modded but tinted windows and rear lights. Also, I don't think I will mod it much at all. If I drop it any more I will scrape too much asphalt on my commute. Chip? Could be, but it spins like crazy already, what will the luanch look like with 50 more hp? Lots of smoke, I think. I am thinking to get BMC CDA intake though, too much good experience with it. Haven't checked the resonator yet. Couldn't be too big, car sounds pretty good. Afraid to delete to avoid highway speed drone. Glasspack perhaps?

.clipse 11-25-2007, 01:13 PM ^ too much good experience with an intake?
hmm must be the placebo effect
LoveTT 11-25-2007, 03:20 PM ^In VW world it was practically the only one that showed actual lower temps (=more air) in addition to easier flow when compared to stock. Mushrooms and cones of different varieties usually just sucked in bunch of hotter air regardless of creativeheat shielding. Still haven't figured out how it would work with our air box, so I may or may not do it.
cincyTT 11-25-2007, 05:25 PM The 2.0T's get good results with intakes, like 8-10whp or so, see the A3 section. But no glass packs, its not 1970 and these are far from muscle cars

Avantgarde 11-26-2007, 08:21 PM good call on the sig size i was having a hard time judging that so i just did what i felt was large enough lol

How to import from photobucket??
ouTTie914 01-06-2008, 11:42 AM From photobucket use the IMG code. When you post just change the capital to lowercase .

This was taken just minutes ago. The car is on the way to Ray's (rayveedub) to get all new coils, spark plugs and other 100k mi service items completed.
I'll only be without my car for a day or 2 and its already hurting inside. Cant imagine how Cincy feels.

moeron7 01-09-2008, 12:58 PM BOOO, that looks so sad!! It should only take an hour or so to do that job. You could def. do it yourself. Hope you get it back today without him raping you on the cost. I just did mine in about an hour and cost me about $120 in parts.
diehlryan 01-09-2008, 01:21 PM Ray charges very reasonable rates.
and it could have been a DIY but I'm at work and the parts are at Rays and I dont have tools with me.
The local tuner (Induktion) couldn't get coilpacks until Friday. Ray at them today.
I'm picking it up Friday w/o worry.

diehlryan 02-19-2008, 06:46 AM ORIGINAL: cincyTT
Did she really get rid of the A4 for a X5?
Yeah it was a mutual decision. And its an X3.
She was at 66k mi on the A4 with a timing belt replacement coming up soon. 66k is also ~ 13k over the lease mileage limit and she still had 6mos on the lease. We traded the A4 for the 3.0 X3 w/ about 4500 in negative equity in the A4. Finance everything at 2.9% w/ $2k down and you have a great deal. The difference in monthly payments is about $100 more and the $4500 in negative equity is less than what the mileage penalty would have been.
The X3 is fun to drive. The 3.0 is 225hp.
Thepianist15 02-19-2008, 09:22 AM what kind of rims?

Dont tell me its good, the GF has it on her list for after graduation. Its down to that, a Jeep Compass, and a new Honda CRV. I kind of like the Jeep.
diehlryan 02-19-2008, 12:26 PM I was leaving a business networking breakfast this morning around 9am, sitting at a redlight, on the phone with the boss, and I feel a jerk in the car (almost like I let the clutch out and its lurched/stalled.)
The woman behind me let up pressure on her brake and just drifted into me.
You can see the damage. No denting, just 2 round imprints from her license plate.
I hung the phone up and looked at it, met her at her window, and told her not to worry. Jumped back in my car and sped off.
I've done this before to someone and so has my wife and each time the driver of the other car just took off without any info, no problems. Thought it was a nice time to return the favor. Its just a car.
