Default vag com

OK I have look for info on the vag software and from what I under stand youcan do some kind of recoding or reprogramming of some functions of the ecu . Is this true? I have a snap-on modus but cant do any kind altering of the ecuunless I buy the software kit that would cost another 4k .do you like the vag and do you think it is worth the money? thanks

$4k??? for what? doesnt the software kit cost $600
