Trouble with Homelink

I am having trouble programming the homelink on my Q7.
I can not get past the step waiting for the flashers to blink three times while the graage door opener is pointed under the driver's front light. Any idea?

I would also try the passengers headlamp.  Sometimes the manuels are incorrect.  If that doesnt work take it to the dealer.  You probably have a bad homelink control module.

I would try the other headlamp as well.  The manuel may be incorrect.  Otherwise take it to the dealer, you probably have a bad homelink control module.

If you Garage door opener has a roving (changing) code you must hit the button on the opener for the homelink to update the new code.   Otherwise it will not input the code.

Even if there is a rolling code the flashers should still flash.  It just wont open the garage.

Have you used this garage door opener previously with other HomeLink equipped vehicles?  Some garage door openers are not compatible with HomeLink at all...for instance, some Wayne Dalton Quantum openers.  They operate on a unique frequency and the codes that Johnson Controls would need to program them have never been shared.  I went through this when I moved into a new house...my solution was to buy a little mini remote off from eBay...no more HomeLink convenience.
