Hi guys, I want to tell you how I solved oil burning problems on my 1993 CS - maybe it will help someone. I used to put 89 grade gas and every 500 miles I'd have to add about 200 ml of oil. I use Castrol  GTX High Mileage.

Then, I put 92 grade gas and damn! I oulled out a dipstick and it was DRY! I took my car to service and they told me I need to replace about 4 or 5 gaskets, etc...

Anyways, I called my father and he told me to use only 87 grade gas. But how come? It says PREMIUM FUEL only by the gas tank...

Well, what we don't realize is that premium fuel in USA is a different stuff than in Europe. I was hesitant, but I gave it a try.

Not only my Audi started running better, but it stopped burning oil. Also, keep same oil - don't switch brands. It's bad for Audi gaskets. Several mechanics told me to use Castrol GTX and after about 4 oil changes (3,000 miles) gaskets should stop leaking (well, maybe it won't eliminate all leaks but still).

Also, I was told that no matter what you do - older Audi would still take some oil, because that's how it is constructed.

Maybe this post won't help you eliminate all oil leaks. But hey, it is a big difference between adding 100 - 150 ml of oil and 1 quart. Also, save money on buying 87 grade gas. Be very careful with 92 grade - it has a tendency to burn sensors. I know 2 Nissan drivers who put 92, and right after that - check engine ligh is on and sensor inside distrubutors needs replacement (it cost $300.00 just for part).

dont know, trying to think of a scientific way to explain it, kinda hard.  Its that if you use 92 or higher and engine cant burn it, that would increase the exaust temp, and burn the sensors. But Audi is high performence, it loves high grade fuel.

Can you do a compresion test? I am very curious.
