I am looking to lower my 2002 A6 2.7T. Does anyone have or know of a set-up that is relatively inexpensive?

How much is inexpensive? How low do you want to go? And how important is ride quality to you? There are multiple setups out there for 2.7Ts the most pupular being H&R Springs with Koni Sport (yellow) shocks, although some people complain that it's a harsh ride.

I used Eibach Pro springs and Koni sport shocks (not the adjustable ones) and I lowered mine 1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the back.  I have the RS6 18's as well and its made all the difference in the world...looks and ride.  Its not too rough at all but stiff enough to where your not floating around.  Now the sway in corners still isn't to my liking but I will need new sway bars for that.  The springs were around $300 and the shocks around $500...all in all I paid around $1200 (installation and all).  If your shocks aren't too old you *may* not have to change them...but personally I would.  I wish I had a good picture to send you but I don't have anything uploaded at this time.  send me your email and I will show you the pics.  I have the 02 2.7t as well.

I ahve the setup mentioned way above, H&S springs and Koni Yellows. Awesome look, great handling but much harsher.
My friend with the same car has the same koni yellow but iwth Eibach springs, MUCH better ride and about .3 inches higher than mine, I would recommend his set up having driven both.
Springs are about 250/set, shocks 130-150 each. Labor varies.

if you ahve $, get H&R coil overs.

I'm getting ready to purchase some Vogtland Coilovers for my 00 A6 2.7T. They are nice!

Be advised that coilovers are going to have the harshest ride of all of them. Just be prepared to feel EVERY bump in the road.

Do you already have the sport suspension or do you have the standard suspension?  I ask because I have the sport suspension on my 03 2.7T and I can't imagine needing it any lower....it looks perfect just the way it is.

Just don't be a moron and try to cut your stock springs or heat them up with a torch to get them to settle a bit....I knew of a guy who did that on his VW GTi and about 100 miles later when he hit a dip in the road at about 45mph his driver's side front spring fell off of the spring perch.

Needless to say....not a good situation.  He was at the VW dealership the next day buying a used set of stock springs from someone who upgraded to an aftermarket because he couldn't afford to do it right the first time.  The end result was he spent just about as much on a second set of stock springs and labor than he would have if he would have just bought the aftermarket springs to begin with....and since his stock springs had been heated he couldn't even try to sell them to recoup some of the money.

I'm running H&R sports with bilstein's. 1.75 drop in the front and 1.5 in the rear on 19x8.5 all around. Ride is good but a little rough. I don't care though cause that''s the look I had to have. Good luck.

I bought some H&R Sports, and will be buying Koni yellow's that have dampening controls on them. I didn't feel like paying 1800 on coilovers that would give height adjustment.....how often will I ever change the height anyway?

I also plan on putting some 20's in the near future.

I will definitely be adjusting mine, since I live where we can get a decent amount of snow and I put my factory wheels on for the winter months so having the adjustablilty is an asset for me.

I rode in an A6 with H&R and it rode very nicely for a lowered car, less harsh than mine.

And if you get adjustable ones suchs PSS9 or V3's, you can adjust dampening too.

Don't mean to be a pain, I just want to help, but that is my setup and it is harsh on anything bbut new supersmooth roads, just make sure that's what you want for everyday... It does look good and handle great but it is harsh!!!
Also the dampening comes to the softest settiog form the facotry and mine is on the softest setting in case you were gonna ask. I even removed them a second time to double check cause I could not beleive how hard they were.
Here's how it looks though. (oh BTW, my 4.2 door blades are coming :) )

Your ride is so nice and clean, Silver is a great color.
Your rims and lowering are real nice. What rims are those?

Thanks, to be honest I think your ADR's look just as nice as BBS. If you don't mind me asking, how much do they go for? How much do they weigh?
I like how low mine is for looks but it is not always practical and rides rough:) I am considering PSS9 to fix that if I keep the car.
Short term upcoming mods are getting my new door blades painted and then putting them on, then Hela Smoked tail lights, maybe rear S8 rear brake conversion and front brake upgarde, ECS tuning kit if I can get it at cost...

Thanks man,
To tell you the truth, they aren't that exspensive. I got them from an ebay seller and paid around 1000.00 for the set. They weigh in the neighborhood of around 25lbs a piece. I just really liked the look and I couldn't beat the price. What area of the country are youin by the way. I'm outside of atlanta. Thansk again and take care.

Ia mnot too far from you.
I am in Charlotte. I sometimes go to Atlanta to theFrench consulate to take care of formalities. Bought my secnod Aussie form a breeder around Atlanta. Drove the A6 there to pci him up last year.

I love your ADR's, my wheels are lighter but for the $ .. S---T I would consider selling my RSGT (they ar $1000/each new) with  tires and buying ADR's, use the profit for more MODS!! :)

BTW, we have started a car club/forum for Euro enthusiasts, you should check in and maybe joon. We hold meets ni NC and SC all the time. I think we have a member from GA At least one official meet/mnoth each state , rides, dyno days... e'll be at the GMP Fallout in October and BREMotorsoprt in October with 4WD dyno...
Check us out.
