Default Why did my turbo fail??

I have an 03 A4 1.8t. The car has 49,600 miles on it. Recently I got the oil changed at a dealership. Unfortunatly it wasnt an audi dealership. After driving the car for approx. 230 miles the oil light came on and then the engine started making noises. I checked the oil and the car had enough oil. Then the light went off and the engine stopped making noises. But the check engine light came on. I took the car home since I was almost there. And contacted the dealership where I got the oil changed. They told me to drive it to them (2 blocks). When I started the car and drove it I noticed the turbo was making a loud humming noise like it was locked up. I was then told to take the car to audi who discovered that the impeller on the induction side of the turbo has spun off. And that I needed a new turbo. But they didnt seem to be able to give me a reason why this would happen my car doesnt have that many miles on it. They did find that the dealership that changed the oil used a small filter and possibly put conventional oil in the car. So I went to complain to the dealership. No luck there the "smaller" filter they used was a napa filter that was for my car. So now Im shit out of luck I guess. Because no one can tell me any reason why my turbo would do this. It sounds like the engine and turbo were unable to get oil for some reason and then turbo broke. But I just got the oil changed!!! Can anyone help??

Default RE: Why did my turbo fail??

odds are they didnt use good oil. Only way to tell is to see the turbo and also test the oil. Turbos spin at over 100k if it has bad oil it will burn it up.
