150 mph and stilll pulling

when I had to lift. Has anyone bumped the 155 governer? what happens? does it missfire? nose over? just curious Dcel

I have no doubt that it’s capable of much more. I had to get out of the throttle @ 150. It was still accelerating. The question is: What happens when it hits the speed limiter? Dcel

it will either have a fuel cut(i.e. stops injecting gas until speed drops) or an spark cut(i.e. stop fireing plugs until speed drops.

Dcel Fuel cut I believe you just get this sudden sensation of a loss of power for about ten miles an hour. Although thats in my A6 so not sure on yours.

I don't know how accurate the speedometer is at those speeds but I swear we hit 160 in the RS6 on the Edens Expy (N. Chicago). We let off and brought it back to double digit speeds. From where I was sitting it looked like the needle touched the 160 mark. I don't believe the car is/was chipped.

I have chipped my B7 rs4. It goes 300km/h. I drove it. That is 187mph

You've got twice the cylinders (with MORE than 2X the displacement) I had, more than twice the hp & tq, and ONLY 20km/h more speed... All I had was a bone-stock 205ps/198tq 4-cylinder w/turbo. I'd be a l'il p!$$'d if I were you.

Hi all, From my experience of owning an Audi TT 225, Audi RS6 Avant, Audi RS4 B7 Saloon & currently an Audi RS4 B7 Avant from new, none of them had been restricted/limited to 155mph from the Factory, so you would'nt have any problem touching 190mph in an RS4. I know someone that had been a Passenger in a totally Standard RS4 B7, which went straight up to 175mph, with plenty still left in it.[:)] I had a friend that had a Opel/Vauxhall Calibra Turbo, back in the mid 90's, they were'nt bad Cars in their Class, speedwise, but from what I remember of it, the Speedometer was'nt very accurate at all, they were'nt very reliable, they did'nt handle very well & they looked terrible, as the wheelbase was far to thin. I dont really think that people realise of how the RS4 is in a different league on performance, build quality & handling to most 'run of the mill' mass produced everyday Hot Hatches/Sports Cars.

However, mine HAD been verified as accurate by the dealership (In Germany they have this entity called a GutAchter {sp?}that performs such activities, and many others) the year prior to my purchasing it, as part of the deal to sell it to a previous prospective buyer, who wanted verification that it would go as fast as it said it would. So, yeah, 280 was reasonably close to 280, to the best of my knowledge. Of course, it was a heavy, small car, so it dint reach 280 in anything close to QUICK, but I embarrassed MANY a BM-trouble-U, Merc, and any Porsche that dint have it's OWN "Turbo" OUT of teh left lane when they hit their guv'ner @ 156mph or just plane ran outta top-end, in my "American"-plated "Secretary's" car (had it 99%-debadged, BTW, for a modicum of stealth). As far as handling, extra-sticky Z-rated, UHPAS gummi and I never put a wheel wrong, under speed, Sunny OR Rainy weather. Maybe YOUR friend opted for cheap tyres, and/or dint maintain his/her car very well, and/or just couldn't drive very well... What I KNOW I did, in MY Calibra: Mannheim to Rhein-Main in 40-minutes, DURING rush-hour. Bamberg-housing-area to RMAB 21st ReplBn in UNDER 2 hours (OK, this one was started at 0300, and traffic was non-existant, but, still, it's a VERY good time. Toe-to-toe with a (presumably stock) SL500, neck-and-neck, from south of Heidelberg to the A5/A67 split just north of Darmstadt, mid-day, light traffic. Entrance/exit ramps (you know, those 270deg ones where you almost do a complete loop, to change from one highway to another?), in the dry, at speeds around 80MPH (NOT KPH, mind you, and, no, I can't exactly say, because, obviously, I wasn't LOOKING directly AT the speedo when I pulled these types of stunts, but I know what my entrance & exit speeds were, and that I was still accelerating), and around 50MPH in the rain (tires, proper gear selection and having a feel for both the car, the road, the suspension, the tires AND your *spincter* are ALL doing, as they relate to each other play a role, here) Ran down a Herman in a '99 S6 who "tapped" me and tried to get away. Again, techinque, as well as traffic acumen and management played as much of a role, if not moreso, that outright power, but, I don't think I'd've been able to do it in either of my other cars (at the time), a 3.8L 735i with a 5-speed and a non-turbo Porsche 2.2L DOHC 924 w/4-speed (hand-built motor by a mechanic-friend, at the time.) You're friend may have had a particularly BAD example of the breed, or I had a particularly GOOD example. All I know is what I did, with mine. And, as far as reliability, it's STILL the BEST car I've EVER owned. I ran that car as HARD as I wanted, as often as I wanted, and never worried about anything other than oil (every 5k/km), coolant (twice/year), pads (approx 4x/year) and tires (annually, but I rolled Z-rated, soft-compound, and covered about 40k/miles/year X the 4 years I owned mine).* edyt to add: Oh, and, as far as looks, that's kinda a personal-preference thing, IMHO. I thought it was georgous, or I wouldn't have bought it. Properly proportioned sports hatch/coupe. Swoopie styling. Iount kno, I think it STILL looks good. IDT you realized I was comparing HIS performance with a MODERN AWD, 6-sp, CHIPPED, 4.2L, DOHC, FSI made in 2006 with MY last-gen X3 AWD, 6-sp, BONE-STOCK, 2.0L, DOHC, FI made in 1993. I only want to know because I plan on buying myself a Z06 'vette (can't afford a brand-new Lambo, yet, but apparently I soon will be able to because if it applies to foreign cars, it applies to US cars, too) and SUE Generous Motors for an amount roughly equal to the GDP of several small pacific island nations, for endangering my life by thumbing their noses as said law/regulation/mandate... Where is it written, again?!?!?

I'm ANTI-DIS-information. If you go around spouting half-truths you contribute to the general ignorance of those who may be inclined to believ you. If, om the other hand, you bother to do a little research, conduct some fair amount of due-dilligence, and THEN spout half-truths... At least you tried. People come to boards like these to find out the best information they can about a particular subject. If all you offer is heresay you are doing others, as well as yourself, a disservice.
