Default Think about it

ok so i just finished watching blue planet and the extra space shuttle movie that it came with. and i was wondering what would happen if you put a bird in zero gravity? i looked on youtube and google'ed it but found nothing.

It would just float like anything else. Birds fly on thermal winds, no gravity no wind.

Oh and whatever you're smoking I want some lol

^

I think the bird would fly higher and higher until you can't see it anymore.

Nothing would happen, it would just float. Unless there is some sort of atmosphere in this zero-gravity area (not possible, since air is pulled by gravity towards planets), the bird would have nothing to propel itself against.

LOL I would love to see a bird inside the ISS... it'd probably freak out because it can't control itself like normal.

if it was inside a spaceship with air pumped in for the astronauts it would propel itself.....birds dont fly because of gravity, it could still fly in a way...when they flap though the counterbalance that is normally there with gravity isnt there in space so it would most likely mean the bird would fly vertically instead of horizontally

As I understand, birds fly by creating lift in the form of a vacuum on top of their wings during the downstroke, and then gliding forward during the upstroke. Without gravity, the gliding wouldn't work,so in a zero-gravity atmosphere like inside a space station, a bird would probably just flap its wings like mad, flipping itself over and over in mid-air and bouncing off of things.
