too easy to buy weapons in the US and everyone has one there[:-]I look at it as the cowards way out instead of being grown up and having it out like a man in the ring

their is no such thing as parneting these days and these are kids way of getting attention it's like people to try to over dose on pills then drive them selfs to the e.d. it is their (not stright forward) cry out for help / attention when was the last time you where at a wal mart or target and seen a family shopping together, me i don't see it so often you see the 5 year old over in the toy department casueing a muckwhile mom and dad are on the other side of the store. and ifsomething happens to the kid while he if over there by itself it's all the stores fault.I rember when i was growing up my family life wasn't the greatest but my parnets where always there and if i did something wrong i was in trouble now a days the term "my kid would never do that" is use way to much even though you have video tape, eye witness, more then enough proff that sayyea your kid did the parnets still don't belive it nor does the kid get in trouble with his/her parnets and taking it to the extreme like school shootings is a prime example and on the other hand it is the easyest way tobe idolizedsuch as eric harris and greg clevable (colimbine school shooters) its beena long time since that happenedand we still hear about itthose 2knuckle heads are house holdnames now with out doing all the hard work that micheal jordan, or walter paytondid to become a home hold name. this is my 2 cents and im sure ill get flamed for it but i see it all the time i work at a hospital and see all kinds of stuff such aswhat you have just red.

Whose responsibility is it to keep those games and movies away from kids though? That is why games and movies have industry-standard ratings, so their parents can decide if the kids show be viewing them. The answer is certainly NOT to ban violent games and movies entirely.

I disagree with you... sort of.

It is the parents responsibility to make sure the kids don't do that. Personally my parents didn't let me watch R movies or play violent video games at all until I was older. By doing this it showed me whats right from wrong and now I can always put down the game or stop the movie or even finish both and say "Thats just a video game. It doesn't affect me." Kids who are already messed up in the head SHOULD NOT play or watch these types of media. It's kids like that who do stuff like this.

Perhaps not to ban them - but put stricter controls on them - but now in this day and age that's damn near impossible. Back when I was a teen - VCR's were just coming of age and too expensive to own at the time. Now with the Internet broadcasting every vice imaginable to anyone savvy enough to find it - it's not an easy job for parents today.

Butit's not an impossible task...

It worries me that another one happened, it is only a matter of time before one happens where I work and I will have to deal with it. A school shooting is a police officer's nightmare to deal with. Schools these days are enormous, it took swat over 3 hours to clear Columbine and that was two trained swat teams clearing at the same time. I agree that a lot is parenting, but I have met plenty of kids who are pretty messed up with great parents. Sometimes people are just going to do what they are set on doing regardless of the help they are given. Such is the nature of the beast. We could point fingers all day and all would be partially right but the fact is we will most likely never know what exactly it was.
