it runs hella bad and smokes and the oil temp is now running at 120. smokes bad. IT was 100% good till i put in more oil, same oil I have used for ever. comes in a brown jug, and i added 4 qt of tranny fluid to the tanny filler tubebecause it was low, stuff in the yellow bottles. Then all of a sudden it runs bad. I did spill some oil and a tiny amount of tranny fluid. Now the temp gauge for oil is higher. Before it was around 60-70 now 120. then when i start it the next morning it sounds fine.  after i drive it for like 5 minutes  a faint burnt oil smell is noticed.   Then I starts to smoke and sound like a desiel engine.  1992 audi v8q

drain the oil and refill the correct amount ( over filling is as bad as little oil ) chances are its blowing excess oil on the exhaust through the dip stick

edit: the tranny should be topped up with the engine running and up to temp on level ground ( assuming its and automatic )

I think you may be correct.  This wouldnt have anything to do with making it run and sound bad???  One friend said to clean the engine with a degreaser for flinges and vlaves etc.

Yes I am thinking it may be the oil because soon as i filled it the cars oil temp went up and it smokes and runs real bad.  so im going to change the oil.  after than should i clean anything specific in the motor?  It threw no codes

hmm hard to answer because you might have blown a gasket but running it for a while and the smoke stops would be good otherwise its a diagnostic/eye ball to see whats wrong and where its leaking

good thing with the V8 is you can see what side the leak is and that's a saving

this could be oil leaking through a gap in the exhaust and the heat would make the smoke so don't panic so much

if the car starts ok and no smoke ill put it on the above^^ because its heat related ( engine warm = oil will burn ) so I would be looking for a leak

the oil leak could be at the spark plugs because the cam cover could have blown a seal

its a simple DIY remove the spark plug leads and see if the oil is built up over the spark plugs if yes the oil is leaking, cam cover gasket is easy to replace

remember its an oil build up pressure linked with engine heat

so lets look at this problem in a different way, engine cold means all liquids are the same temp? engine hot means all the components expand ( tranny being your biggest enemy ) because ATF fluid almost doubles it capacity with heat so when you filled the tranny was it too much
