There is no published or released information as of yet. I think you are looking at least mid to late 2009 for the B8 RS4. I think we can rest assured of a reasonable power jump given the recent German horsepower wars and what we can expect from the new M3, C63 and yes I hate to admit it, the new CTS-V developed at the 'ring. I would guess around 500 bhp with an eye to a more evenly distributed engine position viz the chassis. Another big question for me is the tranny.. to see whether or not a DSG type transmission would make it into this model line or even something along the lines of the single clutch R-Tronic in the R8. I'm sure others out here will have their opinions too.

You can rest asure that there will be a B8 RS4 sometime in the future, it may take a few years, but it will come. Audi, BMW and Mercedes can not live without this undergoing competition, RS4 M3 and AMG-Cxx is a showcase for what the makers are capable of doing to a "small" saloon car, Lexus have join the game too now with their IS-F and I think we will see something from Infinity too before long, Nissan are already somewhat in it.

Is it show-off segment for the makers, partly I guess, but it is also in this segment they are testing some of their new things before some of it becomes available in the standard cars (no offence). In Germany, there will always me a market for fast cars, at least as long they still have free speed at some parts on the Autobahn, if that role will be changed, it may change, but till then, we will still be able to enjoy those fast saloon's.

Back to the B8 RS4, as you propperbly know, till now, Audi has had a rule of only having one RS model on the marked at the time. B7 RS4 is sort of running towards the end spring 2008, then the new RS6 will take over, but then what about the coming RS5, R8RS (just a guess) and TT-RS or whatever it will be called. If RS6, RS5 and TT-RS each have to be markeded for approximately two years, there will not be room for the B8 RS4 before the B8 model run is over, who know. What I try to say is, that Audi is likely to change their 'one at the time' policy to make room for all their planned cars, but guess we will just have to lean back and enjoy the new models hitting the marked in the coming years.

For more info on new Audi models, check out www.topspeed.com and click on Audi, there you will find a lot of news.

Top Speed is a good site to get upcoming model news.....A buddy i have at McDonalds Auto here in Denver has told me the B8 RS4 will have the 4.2 V8 with twin turbo's to boost power to 520-530 range. He is a car salesman so put what weight you want into his claims....nice guy though.

B5 s4 = 2.7tt
b5 rs4 = 2.7tt

b6/b7 s4 = 4.2
b7 rs4 = 4.2

Id put money on the B8 rs4 having a tuned up version of the s4s new 3.0 twin turbo fsi v6.

Also audi has recently announced that they will be releasing RS models in greater numbers (could mean a reduction in price) and they will be released much closer to their corresponding base models. This could also mean that multiple RS cars would be in production simultaneously. Just as mentioned before there are alot of new possibilities for killer rs models which hopefully will make it to production and the streets quickly!

I feel like they are going to drop the V8 for the RS4 all together for the B8 because it is so heavy.  Like what was said above audi has a history of using somewhat the same engines but to a more tuned bases.

Hi all,
There does seem to be alot of speculation on what 'RS' models that Audi will be releasing in the near future.......obviously, there are official details & photos of the NEW 580BHP RS6 already known on the Internet. As for all the others, its all just 'hearsay' at the minute, from various Websites & from what I've heard, theres talk that the RS5 will have a 4.2 V8 single Turbo unit, producing around 450BHP, the TT RS & RS3 having a V6 single Turbo unit, producing around 350BHP & the RS4 B8, sticking with the 4.2 V8 powerplant, but with Twin Turbos as well this time, producing around 500-530BHP......like I say, its all just rumours/hearsay, but if this does happen, there will be an awesome selection of specialised Cars from Audi in the near future!
