Hi I'm wondering if anybody knows for sure whether you can modify an Audi A8 that is prior to 2006 with the newer front grill? Basically changing the grill on thishttp://images.automotive.com/reviews/images/04-a8-hero.jpg TO http://www.lacarguy.com/photo/cache/79f83e531e49e097c458027d2836259f.jpg

I don't think it'd work. The front hood-line is slightly different. Same might be true for the leading edge of the fenders. IDK if it IS different, you may have to find one to park next to, to compare the lines. of course, even IF the lines are the same, the attachment points may not line up corrctly.

It can be done.

ORIGINAL: MarcsA8

Bottom Line: The conversion can be done for 04's and 05's and there are only two options:

Option 1: Factory Upgrade - New Hood, Headlights, Center Grill, Front Bumper Cover, Left/Right Lower Grill, Paint & Labor.Â*Â*Cost: $5000 - $6,000

Option 2: Aftermarket Upgrade (Hofele) - Front Bumper, Center Grill, Shipping, Paint & Labor.
Cost: $3,500 (Approx.)Â*Â*

The headlight profile and hood profile is different. Other than those parts it would bolt right on, you can make anything fit if you wanted to.

Price difference between a new A8 and a 2004 A8 is like 40k.......its worth it, you save at least 32k (im assuming it would cost at most like 8k to do the conversion right) and it looks the same as a new one.....
